BIO
Zarina Nares (b. 1995) is a New York City-born artist, the daughter of Indian and British parents, raised in the Sufi Muslim tradition. She studied electronic music, computing, and technology at Goldsmiths, University of London. Working across installation, video, audio, performance, sculpture, and print, she examines how media, digital culture, and inherited power systems enter the psyche and generate states of tension — between desire and fear, empowerment and oppression, sincerity and performance. Her practice searches for the sites where emotional, political, and aesthetic forces collapse into one another.
Zarina has presented solo exhibitions at Visit (Newburgh, New York), HEART (New York), and Galeria Na Wysokim Poziomie (Poznań, Poland), and has exhibited at Camera Austria (Graz), TIMESHARE (Los Angeles), LIFE WORLD, Blade Study x HEART, and The Source (New York). Her work has been screened at ICA London, EARTH, Forma, and Toxi (Zurich). Her work has been featured in ARTnews and T Magazine, and published by Autre Magazine, DSCENE, and Screen Slate. Her books have sold at Printed Matter, Pioneer Works, and Metalabel. She is the founder and curator of TRIBECA GALLERY.
